Ice Storm Queen

Phew…what a weekend.

Neko’s canine teeth are coming in (or her eye teeth as Rhonda calls them) and she is up and down and all around.

One minute she is lauging so hard her belly shakes and the next whining and clawing at your face or shoving little fingers to rub the raw gums….

We are so utterly tired of trying to appease her and keep her smiling, these pictures shall speak for themselves..

Really early bird - too early Awake and ready to rumble Cold morning light Funny Face Braving the chilly weather Perfect child? Teething pain Happy one second Unhappy the next Staring into space Being changed in the back Ice trees Ice Branches Ice Ice Baby

9 months and growing

We anxiously awaited to get neko measured - it’s been three months and the thought that she may not be thriving, under nourished or developing slowly keeps me up at night (not true, nothing keeps me up anymore).

So…..

She is off the charts again - not a percentile bracket exists for our giant baby:

30.5  inches long (77.5 cm)

22 pounds (10 kilos)

Now we wait three more months…

Neko is 9 months

Baby Douche

Claire is gonna be a mom really soon.

Gifts were showered, the room admired, the quiche devoured and neko got to kiss Toubab…or maybe it’s the other way around.

Come out little french baby, we want to kiss you too!

Uh Oh

It’s three in the morning.

I swear I only came down here for a drink of water.

Really.

I have no idea why I am eating salami chunks, mini carrots, blocks of cheese, drinking milk from the carton and munching on baking chocolate.

AKA Midnight Snack.

Neko has discovered the refrigerator.

A whole new world of possibilities Yeah, i want mini carrots and beer Lookinf for something Guess who Snapshopt from within

Kunst

Being the cultural vultures that we are (actually Peter had to nearly drag me out of Hanse Viertel aka shopping mall), we decided to test out Hamburg’s prime modern art institution, the Hamburger Kunsthalle.

The uptight German room monitors nearly pooped their pants when we let neko crawl around the Picassos, try and touch their masterpieces, and scream with sheer delight at the mosquito exhibit.

Being uptight German, they didn’t say anything, just shadowed us the whole time. We were not intimidated by their hostile stares…after all, they lost WWII.  With defiance, we let her climb the stairs, babble at all video installations and changed her diaper on the main hall floor.  Yeah, let them deal with a poopy diaper!

Fresh baguette straight from the oven!

Neko got a special visit from her new french girlfriend, little sweet Louise (although the gas she had didn’t smell as sweet).

She tried to grab her pacifier and got some empathy tears when her new friend cried out for some milk.

Yeah, they got their own secret language already.

Welcome to the world little girl.

We love you!

Ich Bin Ein Hamburger

Thanksgiving week + office closed =  VACATION in Hamburg.

Neko got her passport stamped yet again!  Although she no longer fits into the bassinet comfortably, she travels well, and likes to climb on the back of the seat and give long speeches (they sound like Ya Ya and Ba Da, but with strong conviction) to the rest of her travel companions.

We got to hang out with the ENTIRE Bernard familia…some of it spent in the hotel in between excursions (waiting for the 10 people to shower, get ready etc) for food or site seeing or shopping (hey, we are on vacation) - where neko perfected her lounge maneuvers and tried to launch herself from every sofa and armchair.
