We are about two weeks behind here with our posting, but better late than never in neko land! (you know that that means - a long ass post!)
Basically I lied when I said spring was here, as it’s been gusty and windy, chilly and all around wierd weather. My hair doesn’t know if it wants to be frizzy or stick straight. I can’t figure out if neko should wear her customary wintery 4-5 layers or just leave the house in a cardigan!
But I digress. We spent a super weekend with the Elodie (her parents where there too) in rain boots and sunglasses (hair was frizz ball), feeding fish and running through the extreme green:
The interaction between them reached a new level: they actually converse (mostly about sharing cereal or handing over balls) but they do exchange info. It’s so hilarious to over hear to them while in a different room, each girl with her little words saying incomprehensibly cute stuff to the other…plus they like to hold hands (after many lessons in no pushing):
Although the weather gods conspired against us, we spent most of our weekend outside, making art, pebble tea and looking for frogs:
But most importanrtly, the girls spent the weekend in style (note no pictures of non styled elders):

I am now officially looking forward (with more gusto than usual) to every weekend so we can spend it outdoors, upstate….weeding, ahem, i meant quality time with the midget:
She insists that the moon bothers her eyes and must wear her pink gwasses at all times! She’s got style that little one….

We got a glimpse of what our future holds as parents of a teenager this past weekend, hanging with my sista Joy (or Joyeuse as she refers to herself). Although my own memories of that tumultuous period may be slightly tainted, Joy was a real cool house guest and an amazing help.
Plus, neko adores her….I always wonder how these little nose picking sand flinging toddlers can instinctively tell non adults from the wise older ones, and then gravitate to them and have giggle fits?
We shlepped the girls everywhere, beginning with some fish viewing:
Then some tree blossom honey suckle scent laden Brooklyn Botanical Garden visit:
And a first for all the Bernard women, a visit to the circus (and no there are no more scary clowns). Neko was amazed (or maybe just temporarily deafened) and was genuinely excited and giddy, jumping, dancing and followed all the acts with wonder in her eyes. She wouldn’t leave (although I tried to bribe her with more popcorn if we left at intermission) and we stayed the whole 2.5 hours:
In between all that, we also managed to eat quite a bit, sleep and shop a little too! Yeah, Teenagers kick ass!
