Punk Rock Princess

There comes a time in every girl’s life when she goes goo gaga crazy obsessed in love devoted to anything princess, pink and remotely cinderally.

We did not promote this.

But we could not escape the inevitable: neko begging to be a princesess: I wanna be costume.

So we twisted the frilly pink principessa notion on it’s head and have had her telling everyone willing to listen (and some random folks too) that she is gonna be a funk princess (I guess punk makes no sense to a girl whose life years can still be counted in days)

A few rips, safety pins and a faux-hauk later and voila:

Foliage

It’s really amazing upstate (even though traffic is hellish due to leaf peeper people (who probably have the same exact pictures as I do).

Neko learned about nature and how it makes music (thank you E-E): leaf music, wind music  and maybe some fart music (big fat doodie is her latest and greatest).

We went on our usual hike, except this time neko proceeded to run most of it. Yes, dudes, she ran, her hands flailing around like she was a butterfly on speed, for almost 2.5 miles. That’s marathon length for three foot tall gnomes! Somehow she managed to collect 236 leaves and 2 rocks (and shove them all in my pockets):

Grandparents Galore

Neko is lucky to have a lot of grandparents (count three sets) and even luckier when a visit from the grandparental units occurs simultaneously, showering her with love, affection, gifts and her parents with sleep ins (when did 8:30am become the new 11:30, eh?)

She got upstate smooches and kisses from EE and Oopo, declaring that she is half (when asked how old she is), making finger art, collages and running up and down the garden while playing with the latest Mannes addition:

Sata Regina came bearing Israeli love, making shnitzels, taking neko to school and teaching her all kinds of things (like blocking the drain with her tush or that birds sing for the morning sun):

It’s totally fall

Yep - the season where the colors are glorious, kids run through piles of leaves (or sit on musty mushrooms in my case - don’t ask how i got the stains out), the weather makes me want to pull out all my sweaters and dance with them, and there are days when you actually cross the street to walk in the sun.  But I digress.

Although neko has an extensive collection  of acorns (must check all pockets before doing laundry), we have not been keeping up with weekly posts, mostly because Peter and I see the fronts of screens too often (the work ones).

Here’s a quick update:

Neko likes school, we think - although all i know from her tales is that when it rains they still go on the roof, but can only run around, no touch the slides, the roof and the cars is all wet (she talks a lot - hmm, wonder where she got that from)

We got her seasonal hair cut - and she loved it - running home to Peter saying: look my petty hair

Humidity by the school yard Making faces

Hung out with the cousin and aunt (come back we love you), while hiking and talking about life, jackets and raising girls:

Mannes-ssss (plural) Cone handling Pit stop Aunt Laurie and the view New bridge Moms n daughters Fall colors Peter - what can i say? Swinging girls My girl is huge!

And saw neko’s favorite friend, elodie, at the zoo - i think i’m still tired from chasing them down, making sure they don’t eat poisonous berries or climb into turtle cages:

My, what big ears you have Polar gazing Getting ready to hug Not liking to wait for bug carousel Paparazzi Green cate-peter Don't eat it Carp Gefilte? Picking berries (taking forever to walk anywhere) Bumblebee Girlfriends

Hopefully winter will be filled with just as many friends, family and stories (but more naps please)!
