This past week we experienced a first of many natural disasters: an earthquake (did you guys feel that swinging in midtown highrises too?) and a freakin’ hurricane!
Much to our worst judgement, we decided to wait out the storm in accord, preparing ourselves for mother nature’s worst. This included a mad dash to the supermarket (yes, we have a lot of tuna now) the hardware store (the guy laughed hard when we asked for batteries) and a lovely patient explanation of the sh%% storm that was coming to neko.
The conclusion and the lessons learned from our crazy weekend:
1. Accord and upstate are submerged under ‘brown lake water’ (neko’s words)
2. I rely way too heavily on electronic devices for neko’s entertainment and 3 days without power was proof that glue and glitter really ARE magical
3. I love showers, prefer them them daily and really pefer (neko’s way of sayin it) flushing toilets
4. Neko loves taking highway shoulder pee stops, every 2 hours
5. Candle light dinners are romantic and I love my family so much that I would do it all over again!
