Migrating

As we get ready for our own migration to a new hood, we are teaching neko (she is teaching herself - gotta be honest here) how to master her scooter so our morning subway-school-rush-rush-hurry-hurry is hopefully easier. So far it seems successfully fun - if you count going in giant circles and not hitting any other kids a success:

She is looking very professional in the pink n purple gear though…isn’t that half the battle?

Stay tuned for reports of speedy scooting at record breaking speed at early am rush hour to school….

Notes From the Cardboard Underground

We have been knee deep in packing tape, bubble wrap and cardboard.

Hence the lack of neko updates - but even an evening dedicated to sorting through 12 years of Gourmet magazine piles must stop for the first day of school:

Neko marched into her new classroom and forgot about us the minute she stepped over the threshold.

As usual, I was more anxious, but we all love Open House and can’t wait to spend another year there and share new friends, adventures and stories….

Another important update is neko’s new EXTREME trend towards independence.  She even announced a few nights ago that being small is not fun and she wants to be big like her mama (i’m not sure if she meant my growing belly and general width).  This desire has manifested itself in attempting to tie her own shoe laces for endless long minutes (at precisely 8:59 am), mastering buckling and buttoning and now, choosing her own clothes:

Oh man - can’t wait till she turns 16, oh, I mean, 4…..
