Today was mother’s day.
Ever since I was a little girl I knew I wanted to become a mother (and a flight attendant too). Sometimes I think it’s been an underlying driving force in my life….Having birthed and now raising two girls has been nothing short of mind boggling miraculous: it has made me learn so much about myself, my limits, my incredible pools of strength, my capacity to giggle even if I haven’t slept more than 20 minutes in three days, the endless amounts of love one can have, my desire to make their lives better, my lioness’s sense of protection and pride, but more than anything it has taught me to stop, just a few moments every day or every week and be incredibly grateful for the happiness and the iridescent qualities my life has with my girls….

Snow’s three month day just passed us by….
We’ve been preoccupied with the following:
- her incredible eyelashes
- her desire to sit and look around
- her lack of sleep
- her extreme long limbs (all sleeves are 3/4 length on her)
- her obsession with neko
- her infectious smile (like a blind drunk man)
- her fascination with her own left hand
- her love of her dad’s singing (and dancing)
- her apparent girly cuteness emerging!

What’s better than allowing kids to go to a petting zoo?
Yup, you guessed correctly, a petting zoo combined with an amusement park, cotton candy (not as good as in your memories), popsicles, ferris wheel, pony rides and best part of all, friends:
Next time we actually check out the farm!
Check it out - this year versus last - man - where does all the time go?
And - how do they succeed in getting her to sit still?

Neko, from day one, has been wishing for snow to grow up fast into a kid so that she can play with her, and more importantly, take fun baths together. Today marked the beginning of bubble bath heaven (not that snow is into it or can play or do much but kick her feet around, but it’s something which will eventually be more of a something):

Jews like to congregate (and commiserate too) but nothing makes us happier than having the family visit, especially to celebrate the arrival of the latest clan member (yes, I am praying daily she does not exhibit jew-fro like hair).
First we had the Saba, Joy and Taly clan, who suffered through our cold weather, extreme jet lag and running withdrawal symptoms to see us…all with bravado and the expectant Jewish whine:
Then came Doda Maya, the same Doda who recently made me into a proud Doda (aunt) myself (with the healthiest sleepiest cutest kid eva). She made me as happy as can be - allowing me to plant real wet Doda like kisses (and pinches) on the cheeks (and chins) of the other latest tribe member:
And just this past weekend we had a quick visit from the Atlanta clan (well half)..neko got her older cousin worship time in (she even told me that when she herself is older and has her own kids and is just like Sophie, well, then she can stay up late too…admiration in her voice):
Family - thank you for your visits, your love and your sweetness!

Been foggy here lately, and by that I don’t mean the marine layer coming off the New York harbor outside our windows (what’s up with Venice Beach weather lately). By fog I mean that day is really night and night means no sleep and feeding neko loads of pasta and allowing her way too many Olivia’s on the tv and many many diapers and a ton of laundry and loads of sofa surfing and tears (mine mostly) but maybe I’m being hopeful, but there are signs (rare and cherished with the sort of panic one feels about the quiet before the storm) of normalcy ahead….here is one of those:
Here’s to good things blossoming this spring!

The birthday extravaganza, as promised, continued with a super cool party at Carmello The Science Fellow (wondering now if that’s his stage name), where 25 of neko’s closest friends (yes, she has more friends than I do on Facebook) got to touch skinks, lizards, various rodents and even make slime:
Neko had a memorable ‘turning 4′ and we thank all our friends and family for making her feel as special and happy and amazingly cool as she deserves!
P.S. Sorry for my non edit of the images - there were too many to chose from
