This summer has been gloriously, well, summery….
We have spent most of our weekends up in Accord, and this weekend was no different EXCEPT that it was filled with friends, babies, toddler-hood girlies, food, beer and discussing Google+. It was nice to lazy on the grass, catch up and be out there in the sunshine. Yes, I am so grateful for everyone and everything in my life (except the mosquito bites!):
P.S. This weekend three years ago we celebrating Andree’s baby shower by eating yummy cake and bagels…now, all this time later, we watch our daughters shovel away cream cheese bagels and M&M’s…..i know, we should have eaten salad and green beans!

The boy with the best name out there
The boy with the best disposition and amazing appetite (he even eats paint)
The girl and the boy who spent the weekend on the swing
The dog who is old and sweet (and kinda can’t hear or smell anymore) and allowed neko to walk her
The girl and the boy who looked at giant pigs and climbed tractors (Woodstock Animal Sanctuary - the place where vegans rule)
The boy’s parents who made us dinner and are such great friends
The girl and the boy who hiked in backpacks while holding hands
The boy and the girl who were pooped at the end of the fresh air filled days
The best weekend in our slice of heaven

One year ago: Labor Day with Elodie
Two years ago: Chubbie neko in pijamas
It was way too long (andree was not even showing the last time we all played) and neko missed her friend…
I had built up some excitement, prepping neko for the weekend with Elodie, and the early birthday bash we were throwing her. Although neko insisted it was her birday too, we hope Elodie had a good almost turning two weekend!
(Please note I schlepped balloons through Times Square at rush hour - and had to fend off tourists singing happy birthday to me!)
The two girls played AMAZING together, spending lots of quality naked butt time on the grass:
We ate like every 3.25 hours:
We picked berries (elodie eating her weight in blackberries):
The girls made art (in the buff), elodie asking to use salt over and over (sparkle sprinkle glitter is a big hit with the under 3 age group):
And neko made her debut as a very talented photographer:
Elodie - we love you (and your parents too) and although it’s not the same, we hope you enjoyed an early bday song and cake! Let’s play with more glitter soon!

Next time we’ll pay her like 33 cents:
One year ago: Climber tushie kid
Two years ago: Bath time recap
P.S. She loved helping out - I now totally get child labor, this kid is being put to work!
The only possible way to escape the heat wave this weekend was a visit to the watering hole. By that we do NOT mean the fine establishments Peter (and Franck) like to visit but a naturally occurring deep icy pool:
Only problem is - two seconds later you’re all hot again! When will this heat ever subside?
Also please note that our archives now encompass two years! Woohoo for growing up (and documenting every step of the way).
One year ago: Concrete Jungle
Two year ago: Andree’s Baby Shower
Neko spent the weekend at sleep away camp: in Accord with her E-E and Opoo.
She did arts and crafts, gardening, fine motor skill developing, Disney appreciation hour, water play, a lot of wall climbing (which she now does unassisted although I still like to hover nearby) and perfected her nakedness:
Her parents slept in, exercised, re-organized the organized storage bins, and relaxed.
All in all a perfect weekend.
It’s August NYC hot (and it’s only June)- and you all know what that feels like: grimy, sticky, walking through a heavy mass of ’someone forgot to turn the hair dryer off’ type feeling.
Solution: bust out the kiddie pool!
One year ago: monkey business
We are about two weeks behind here with our posting, but better late than never in neko land! (you know that that means - a long ass post!)
Basically I lied when I said spring was here, as it’s been gusty and windy, chilly and all around wierd weather. My hair doesn’t know if it wants to be frizzy or stick straight. I can’t figure out if neko should wear her customary wintery 4-5 layers or just leave the house in a cardigan!
But I digress. We spent a super weekend with the Elodie (her parents where there too) in rain boots and sunglasses (hair was frizz ball), feeding fish and running through the extreme green:
The interaction between them reached a new level: they actually converse (mostly about sharing cereal or handing over balls) but they do exchange info. It’s so hilarious to over hear to them while in a different room, each girl with her little words saying incomprehensibly cute stuff to the other…plus they like to hold hands (after many lessons in no pushing):
Although the weather gods conspired against us, we spent most of our weekend outside, making art, pebble tea and looking for frogs:
But most importanrtly, the girls spent the weekend in style (note no pictures of non styled elders):
One year ago: Miami Vice
I am now officially looking forward (with more gusto than usual) to every weekend so we can spend it outdoors, upstate….weeding, ahem, i meant quality time with the midget:
She insists that the moon bothers her eyes and must wear her pink gwasses at all times! She’s got style that little one….
One year ago: Sick but still pretty
I warn you, this post is kinda sentimental!
We finally got some real quality time with Elvis Bulan Pollock Chien (phew - his name is like a tongue twister), and yeah, his parents were there too…
It’s really heart warming, in that cheesy pink fluffy way, to watch our friends join the parenting circle, the club, as Peter would say. Yes, they now own a lot of primary colored plastic shit and can never find where they put the pacifier!
Bulan is a sweet, smiley and easy kid….he let neko bite and push him (yeah, she’s still doing that), he let each of us hold him without a fuss, he ate more than any adult and he put every single toy in his mouth. Neko chased him and tried desperately to get him to walk, pulling by his arms saying ‘up baby up’. And although she confused Justin with Franck, was somewhat intimidated by Doggy FeeFee (saying ok to herself each time she barked to get hold of her fears), she knows that Nyna is baby evis’s ama and she loves all of them already.
And as for me, I am incredibly touched by this new family, by their warmth, sweetness and natural ability just to be….here’s to sharing this together!
And so ’sossy’ about the biting pushing pulling….
